About InAct

InAct is an international, peer-reviewed online journal of collaborative, interdisciplinary, artistic, and practice-based research, as well as research in the arts. Founded in 2026, it publishes high-quality original research in, through and on the arts.

The journal provides a platform for research methodologies and outcomes that inherently involve collaborative forms and processes in the arts. It foregrounds original methodological approaches and welcomes both experimental and traditional academic formats. Individual artist-researchers, scholars, practitioners, and research teams are invited to submit manuscripts.

We accept original research demonstrating outcomes of artistic, practice-based and academic research that foreground collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and creative or research practices. We welcome mixed-method approaches that integrate artistic and scholarly modes of knowing, and diverse forms of collaboration between artists and researchers.

InAct publishes one volume annually. Reflecting the journal's international and collaborative orientation, the Editorial Board includes distinguished researchers and artist-researchers from Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovakia, and the United States.

Publications submitted to the journal must be fully original, never published before in other editions. While using other sources, scientific and artistic materials, authors must observe the principles of fair quotation and proper attribution. Any use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the research, writing, editing, translation, or preparation of a manuscript must be disclosed by the authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their work. Plagiarism, undisclosed AI-generated content presented as original authorship, and other forms of academic misconduct are unacceptable. The journal is committed to protecting copyright and upholding academic integrity. In turn, the editor and Editorial Board commit not to reveal any information about the submitted manuscripts, with the exception of the author, co-authors, reviewers, potential reviewers and other persons related to the publishing (language editors, publishers etc.).

InAct operates a double-blind peer-review process conducted by independent experts in the relevant field. Reviewers treat manuscripts as confidential documents. Peer review relies on objectivity, expertise, and well-reasoned evaluation.

The editors and Editorial Board are not responsible for the opinions, views, and contents published in the submitted manuscripts. Responsibility for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of published work rests with the author(s).
